Family, friends, coworkers, and members of the community joined law enforcement officers to honor 42-year-old Sandeep Dhaliwal, a Harris County Deputy who was shot and killed in the line of duty.
The candlelight vigil was held Monday, September 30, at Harris County Deputy Darren GoForth Park.
Lieutenant Shannon Bowdoin thanked MPN for traveling from Pearland to honor Deputy Dhaliwal and said, “When one blue warrior bleeds, we all bleed.”
“It’s been a sad few days, said Shirley Scarpetta. “I called Officer Dhaliwal often during the time that I sculpted a tribute to 4-year-old Maleah Davis. He was a good man.”
Mayor Sylvester Turner called Dhaliwal a “walking lesson in tolerance and understanding, which are are values Houstonians uphold here in the nation’s most diverse city.”
“Our community doesn’t want to believe this happened, we are in shock,” said a member from the Sikh National Center. “He was very special in our community and he had a lot of friends.”
Dhaliwal leaves behind his wife and three young children.
