Local emergency personnel on Monday practiced their response to a scenario they hope they never see.
The Pearland Police Department, Pearland High School, and Pearland ISD Administration conducted a full day of Civilian response to active shooter events.
Pearland Police Department focussed on three tactics: avoid, deny and defend, which is part of the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event aka CRASE course.
The course was created by the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training Center at Texas State University through detailed and in-depth research into active shooter events over a 14-year span.
The Pearland Police Department stated in a Facebook post that they will continue to work closely with Pearland ISD to ensure the safety of their students and staff.
