The Houston Women’s March Brazoria will be holding an event in the Shadow Creek Ranch area on October 2nd 6 to 9pm. The event is billed as a bipartisan meet-the-candidate opportunity. Republican candidates are being invited, yet it is unknown if any will attend the event. The staff of one Republican elected official’s office noted to My Pearland News that October 2nd is the date of National Night Out 2018 Pearland. In August millions of Americans nationwide met with and celebrated the role of law enforcement in their community. Pearland takes part in that time-honored tradition in October. Pearland Residents will meet with Pearland Police that night in their own neighborhoods at the 34th annual Pearland National Night Out on October 2nd.
While the Houston Women’s March’s website claims the organization is in a state of “Building Progressive Power For The 2018 Elections,” Pearland’s local event’s goal is to have a bipartisan environment. The local organizers made it clear that Pearland’s event will be for both Republicans and Democrats. The attendees can meet the candidates and decide whom they want to support; attendees can also sign up to volunteer for candidates. The organizers are Dr. Letitia Plummer (832-606-5104), & Stephanie Tamborello (281-467-4994). It is great to see that a tide is turning in Pearland, and the emergence of bipartisan events might pave the way to a more unified Pearland.
