Volunteers needed to help starving families

There’s nothing more satisfying than coming home after a hard day to a delicious dinner with family and for over 11 years, Pearland business owner, Tania Castillejos Monroy has helped families do just that through her meal-assembly company, Dream Dinners of Pearland.

Tania knows that sometimes it’s easy to forget that a lot of folks around the world—including in the Pearland community—don’t experience the luxury of a home cooked meal or even know where their next meal is coming from.

1013401_10151486334461938_730015148_nFor months, Tania has been fundraising and gathering volunteer’s to help with the 3rd annual food-packaging event called “Pearland Fights Hunger.” She hopes the campaign will bring together enough sponsors and volunteers to package at least 75,000 nutritious meals in just two hours to benefit families in need in Pearland and Haiti. As part of a nationwide initiative to end the fight against hunger, the meal-packing event is made possible through a partnership with a Dream Dinners non-profit organization called the Friends and Family Community Connection who organizes meal packaging to help reduce malnutrition locally and around the world.

Last year, the community came together and packed 60,000 meals.

If you like helping others, and you are looking for something to do Sunday afternoon, September 9th, show up at New Hope Church and lend a hand to help pack meals for hungry families.
