The staff of MyPearlandNews can often be found at Emma’s Mex Grill on any given night. Its one of our favorite Pearland haunts. Last night while enjoying some enchiladas we decided to write the praises of this Pearland gem. Emma’s Mex Grill is centrally located on Broadway by Pearland’s Cinema 6. There is always plenty of parking. In fact, we always seem to get front row parking. But then again, we always eat early.
Emma’s is different, and that’s why we love it. Emma’s isn’t your generic Tex-Mex restaurant. It features an eclectic mix of seafood, gourmet selections, and Mexican Staples. Despite offering so many selections on their massive menu, my order is rather generic. While I love the garlic shrimp (camarones al ajillo), grilled beef (carne guisada), and char-grilled chicken enchiladas (enchiladas suizas), I always end up eating cheese enchiladas.
The focal point of the establishment is their massive Tequila Bar which features hundreds of variations of tequila. Their Emma’s margarita has to be tried. This drink is a frozen margarita served with two test tube shot glasses inserted in the margarita (one with white tequila one with dark tequila). Their bartenders are the stars of the restaurant. The make every drink from hand. When I asked for a lemon drop martini they started by juicing several lemons. There was no instant mix or syrups. It’s always from scratch.
(Our perfect lemon drop)
The crowd at Emma’s is also the focal point. This restaurant is a great place to people watch. Last night I saw a city councilman; and flukely, I even ran into the God Father of Pearland, Kevin Cole. There are always energetic happy crowds just trying to have a good time. But don’t get the impression things get out of hand there always seems to be one of Pearland’s finest doing security and keeping the peace for the establishment.
Emma’s is one of Pearland’s best-kept secrets. While visitors to our town checking out the Town Center or visiting their doctor may opt for well-known chain restaurants like On the Border, Pearland residents often times turn to Emma’s for its reputation of rarely disappointing. If you’ve never tried Emma’s Mex Grill. Check it out. They didn’t pay me for this write-up. Heck, they didn’t even give me a free enchilada. I just love this place. It’s near my house and always a peaceful place to unwind from the absurd reality-tv-show that is Pearland Politics.
