Top 5 Pearland Eateries that give back to the community.

Whenever tragedy strikes, there are many individuals who donate their time and resources to the community in an effort to help rebuild, repair, support, or raise awareness. Following recent events in our neighboring city of Santa Fe and now reflecting back on Hurricane Harvey as we approach yet another Hurricane Season here on the Gulf Coast, we’re reminded of the businesses that always seem to be present to help us all find a little relief. If you’re out and about, please think about supporting these businesses that support us in return.

Here are the Top 5 Pearland Food Establishments that always seem to find a way to give back:

5 Pearland Coffee Roasters

The “Coffee Shop at the Railroad Tracks” has been serving up freshly roasted coffee to Pearlanders since 2010. The PCR family served more than just coffee on more than several occasions, though, during trying times in our city. During Harvey Recovery efforts, PCR helped organize a gift card drive for affected families alongside the efforts of ONE Pearland who helped create and manage the city’s main donation warehouse. Additionally, PCR has been an active site for free counseling services following tragic events at our local schools as well as an active sponsor for many community events earning them our #5 spot.

4 Dream Dinners

The owner of Dream Dinners, Tania Monroy, says people are often confused by exactly what her business is. To help set the record straight, Dream Dinners is a meal prep business which helps busy individuals plan out their meals with recipe guides and fresh ingredient prep stations. Each year, though, this business organizes several meal prep extravaganzas utilizing the power of community to feed thousands of people in need free of charge. During Hurricane Harvey recovery, Tania and her team donated hundreds of free meals and in September, the annual Pearland Fights Hunger event will prep 75,000 meals to feed those here at home and abroad earning them our #4 spot.

3 The Drink Station

Pearland’s oldest locally-owned coffee and tea shop, The Drink Station, has become a familiar name for events all over town since 2008. During Hurricane Harvey, TDS donated free coffee and pastries to all first responders and shelters throughout Pearland, Alvin, and Brookside Village. They also gave away free coffee for an entire month to the entire city following the storm. They can be seen regularly donating tea and coffee to regular local events such as Coffee with Cops & Pearland Chamber of Commerce First Friday Events. In addition to their sponsorship activities in the community, TDS also donates 10 pounds of food to the Pearland Neighborhood Center for every 1 pound of coffee they sell in all of their locations. The Drink Station’s owner, Adrian Hernandez, who is currently in a run-off election for City Council, also serves on several local boards where he dedicates much of his free time to community service which earns The Drink Station our #3 spot.

2 Floyd’s Cajun Seafood

Most recently serving as the site of the Endy Ekpanya Memorial Highway Dedication Ceremony, Floyd’s Cajun Seafood in Pearland and Owner Bret Floyd have been very active in supporting the Pearland community. From raising funds for the Pearland Police Officer Memorial to regularly sponsoring local events and charities for over a decade, Floyd’s has become a true Pearland institution but rarely seeks recognition for their work. During Harvey recovery, Floyd’s was also busy giving away food and hosting fundraisers to help keep our community and first responders supported and nourished. All this coupled with their very humble approach to service has earned them our #2 spot.

1 GRAZIA Italian Kitchen

If you live in Pearland, you know that the name GRAZIA has become synonymous with service. Grazia’s owner, Adrian Hembree, and his staff have been hosting fundraisers for a myriad of community causes since their inception. Most recently, the GRAZIA team hosted a community breakfast taco fundraiser for the victims of the Santa Fe HS shooting where members from the community came together to raise over $20,000 for our neighboring community. A similar fundraiser was held for the family of deceased Pearland Police Officer Endy Ekpanya who was killed by a drunk driver in 2016. During Hurricane Harvey recovery, GRAZIA donated free food to shelters and first responders on a daily basis. Their unmatched dedication to our community and those around us have earned them our #1 spot.
