LEADERSHIP PEARLAND CLASS OF 2016-2017 GRADUATES

Pearland, TX –Leadership Pearland is a national leadership program sponsored by the Pearland Chamber of Commerce with a mission to identify current successful men and women in the area and expand their involvement in community affairs and future leadership positions.

The 2017 Pearland Leadership Class spent nine months together learning about city, school, state and county organizations, departments, services and non-profit organizations.  Their time together culminated in a graduation luncheon on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn-Pearland.

 

Each member of the class participated in the Graduation luncheon.  Mandy Benedix, Pearland ISD gracefully wrapped up the year with outstanding and emotional remarks.

The keynote speaker for the 2017 Graduation Ceremony was Mark Parrish, CEO of Igloo Products in Katy, Texas a CEO who has transitioned from battlefields to boardrooms.  His presentation of Leadership was outstanding and inspired and motivated all who were present.   In this role, Mark has full leadership and management responsibility for the worldwide operations of Igloo.  He has an accomplished record of leading organizational transformations of U.S.-based manufacturers.

Mark is a distinguished graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. During his uniformed service in Army Aviation, he served in five countries on three continents. As an AH-64 Apache helicopter pilot, he served in Operations Desert Shield/Storm where he was awarded the Bronze Star and Air Medal for Valor. He later earned two Masters of Science degrees in Engineering and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The 10 members of the 2017-2018 Leadership Pearland Class are immersed in various aspects of the community such as law enforcement, infrastructure, and social services.

Fontenot, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic; Gerrit R. vonWenckstern, Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital; Melissa Washington, Pearland Chamber of Commerce; Mandy Benedix, Pearland ISD; Mark Parrish, CEO –Igloo; Carol Artz-Bucek, CEO Pearland Chamber of Commerce; Kristyan DeHoyas, Amegy Bank of Texas;  Christian Bionat, Congressman Pete Olson’s Office; Kathy Dupree, University of Houston-Clear Lake Pearland Campus; Tonya Davis, Robert Turner College and Career High School; and not pictured Sasha Costa, The Media Heroes & PearlandSports.com.

The Pearland Leadership Class is a 9-month course for nominated emerging leaders within the community.   Applications are being sought for the 2017-2018 program which will begin in September.  Deadline for sending in nominees is Friday, August 11th.
